Dear Friend (why I am
a Shaklee distributor):
Four years ago, I was bitten by a deer tick. It did not
leave the customary red circle and, because it was nothing more than irritated,
I did not seek medical attention. By the following winter, I developed symptoms
which were increasingly difficult to explain including “brain fog”, night
sweats, “burning” sensations on my legs, dizziness, and more.
The following year, after hiking in the neighboring Virginia
fields, I was bitten twice by deer ticks. This time, the area was red and
swollen but still no characteristic bull’s eye.
By the tenth day, I became violently ill. My previous symptoms worsened,
I developed a fever of 103 degrees, had difficulty walking, experienced extreme
fatigue, as well as several other symptoms. My doctor recognized the symptoms
and immediately placed me on doxycycline. The initial test returned negative
results for Lyme. Due to regulations, my doctor could keep me on antibiotics
for no longer than 6 weeks. Following the 6 week antibiotic therapy, I still
carried a fever of 100 degrees (which lasted a total of 3 months) as well as
many other symptoms. Immediately, I sought the help of a Lyme specialist who
tried several tests before one came back positive for Lyme. She kept me on
weekly antibiotics throughout the first year. As I had successfully experienced
the use of Shaklee’s multivitamins for about 15 years, I added Shaklee’s
Immunity Formula, Nutriferon, B complex, Vitamin C, and Garlic. In addition, I
incorporated a liver detox using Shaklee’s Liver DTX.
The following summer, I was bitten again while visiting my
daughter, Adrienne. My Lyme doctor kept me on antibiotics. During that time,
she noted that I was doing much better than I should have been based on my
history. She stated, “I don’t know what you are doing but keep doing it.”
During the next year, my antibiotic therapy was being lessened on a monthly
basis. I continued to take my Shaklee supplements as well as a
sugar substitute, Xylitol (not a Shaklee product), as studies have
shown that Xylitol kills Lyme. The next year, I was bitten four times while
gardening by deer ticks. I started the antibiotic treatment in full doses
again. By the following fall, I was feeling much better with only a slight
sensation of burning in my legs. All other symptoms had vanished. During the
beginning of this year, my energy returned and I decided to stop some of the
supplements. This included a daily dose of Xylitol, the Immunity Formula and
Nutriferon. In a couple weeks, my symptoms were returning. After reintroducing
Xylitol, I noted a slight change. Within a couple weeks, I reintroduced the
Immunity Formula and Nutriferon. Soon afterwards, I was symptom-free except for
an occasional burning sensation in my legs!
This summer, my Lyme doctor removed me from all antibiotics—the first time in four years! I credit Shaklee
and God for returning my health and my life.
Blessings,
Debbie Bankert
